01 West Brompton Underground Station 59:36

We start at West Brompton Underground station. As I said as it is a circle trip around London we can start anywhere but I started here becuase:

  • It is nearest location to my house
  • It is near to the Ibis Earl's Court where the girls stayed
  • We can have breakfast at the Troubadour cafe
West Brompton station is on the Wimbledon branch of the District line.  Change at Earl's Court Underground station for a train. It is also on the London Overground to/from Clapham Junction.

Standing outside the entrance to the station opposite is the side entrance to Earl's Court Exhibition centre. The Volleyball for the Olympics was held there.  Watched the Japanese and the Korean games on TV and it was really exciting.  The Tower block to the left of Earl's Court is the Empress State building, that was initially supposed to be hotel, but was changed to offices and now houses admin offices of the Metropolitan police,

If you cross over and stand by the gate to Earl's Court on the right hand side you can see the Ibis Earl's Court where the girls stayed. We will be ending our tour there, but if you are not doing the full tour you may want to go and see it now.

To the left of Earls Court is the Brompton Cemetery.
