London Routemaster Bus

All of the street scenes have the famous Routemaster double decker bus, with the rear entrance.

Actually apart from the two heritage routes, there have been no Roytemasters on regual routes since the 9 December 2005.

The two heritage routes that touch on the tour.

Heritage route 15: Trafalgar Square — Strand — Aldwych — Fleet Street — Cannon Street — Monument — Tower Hill. ie the Tower of London

Heritage route 9: Olympia-Warwick Gardens - High Street Kensington - Royal Albert Hall — Hyde Park Corner — Piccadilly Circus — Trafalgar Square, ie High Street Kensignton

Unidentified scenes

I still haven't identified these scenes

Large town houses on the way to London 45:34

The drug store 59:38

The Arts and Craft house 59:38

Pretty distinctness house but I have not found it in the West Brpmpton/ Earls court area

The Edwardian Town Houses

There are plenty of similar but not exact town house in the Earls Court area, but which is the exact street I don't know

T Junction 79:43

This is a scene shot during the concert. Pretty annoying as I feel I know it, but none of the ones I think it is pan out.

30 Ibis Earls Court 57:04

The Ibis Earl's Court ; last stop on the tour.

(My shot is from the other side).

So the end of the tour. The start point West Brompton Tube is just along Lillie Rd.

Hope you enjoyed the tour around London.

29 Junction of Lille Rd with the North End Road

This scene of the junction isi taken from the Lillie Rd (in the direction of the Ibis Hotel)

On to the Ibis Earl's Court

28 North End Rd market 59:34

The market is just past Lillie Rd. It is on one side of the North End Rd and is mainly in the morning, although the stall which I think is the one in the film is open latter.

Go back to Lillie the junction of Lillie Rd and turn right to the Ibis Earl's Court.

27 Ayubi carpets 305 North End Road 45:36

Lighthouse Fish and chip shop and Ayubi carpets 305 North End Road, West Kensington
London, W14 9NS Junction of Lillie Road

This is just before the junction with Lillie Rd. The front of the carper shop is now brownish rather than white as in the film.

Carry on past the junction with Lillie Rd to the North End Rd markets

26 The Famous 3 Kings West Kensington 45:41

There are two distinctive scenes in the drive in to London, One is the Lighthouse Fish and chip shop and Ayubi carpets  segueing into the Famous 3 Leaves Pub.

The interesting thing is is that they are both on the North End Road in West Kensington, which is not the way you would go by taxi from Heathrow to the Ibis London City, but is on the road that leads to the Ibis Earls Court.

They are also in the wrong order: the Famous 3 Kings (the correct name) is at the start of the North End Road, just next to West Kensingtom Underground station and the carper job is just before the junction to Lillie Rd, where the Ibis Earl's Court is.

The Famous 3 Kings is actually pretty unmemorable. it turns out I have been and had a meal there four or five times, but I did not recognize it. They have also changed the color from purple to green.

Walk down the North End Rd, past the Underground station to the Junction of Lillie Road (0.6m)
or take a 28 or 391 to Lillie Rd (two stops) from the bus stop in front
 .

25 Gloucester Road Waitrose Supermarket

The Glocester Mall and the Waitrose is actaully built over Glocester raod Underground station.

The Waitrose Supermarket is the height of English civilization and I am glad the girls shopped there, and not some downmarket Tesco or Sainsbury.

We are now going to West Kensington Station.

Go back to Gloucester road station and take a Westbound District line train destination Richmond or Ealing Broadway to West Kensington station.

24 Earls Court Underground station 71:39

There is a shot in the night scene of the Eastbound platform at Earl's Court station.

Take a East bound district line train to Gloucester road

23 Hyde Park Kensington Gardens 60:12

I'm pretty certain the scenes in the park are in Hyde Park, but having gone around the perimeter of the park (3.6 miles)Ii can't match up the houses in the background, the fence and the dog waste disposal bin.

So I have chosen the West bit of Hyde park, whose name is correctly Kensington Gardens as the most likely spot. this is next to Kensington Palace, which you can visit.in Kensington Gardens,

My picture are taken near the Broad Walk  off Kensington Road.

We are now going to Earl's Court Station

Go back to High Street Kensington Station and take a circle line train to Earls Court.

22 221B Baker St 60:44

221B Baker Street is the home of Sherlock Holmes and the Sherlock Holmes Museum.

We are now going to Hyde Park on the Kensington High Street Side.

  • Walk back to Baker Street Station
  • Take a Westbound Hammersmith or Circle line trian to Edgware Rd
  • Change to a Winbledon or Circle line train to High street Kensington
  • Turn right at the entrance and walk to Hyde Park.

21 Abbey Road 60:52

Is the Abbey Road zebra crossing the most famous in the world? or is it the Shibuya Crossing?

There is a webcam on The Abbey Rd Studio and they keep one day as an archive so you can pick your photo up.

The next stop is Sherlock Holme's House on Baker St.

Either walk back to St John's Wood tube and take the tube back, or take the 139 or 189 bus from the stop further down Abbey Road to Baker Street.

20 Camden Tube; Camden Market; Proud-Camden Stables

The girls go from the Ibis London City to Camden.

The Camden Markets are apparently the fourth busisets tourist attraction in London and are a series of markets running North from Camden Underground to Camden high street, and over the Canal.  The major trading day is Sunday, with the temporary stalls open on Saturday and the permanent stalls all week.

20A Camden Town Underground.

Camden underground station is a complicated X with two lines going North and two lines going South. On Sundays to prevent overcrowding, entry is prohibited on Sunday afternoons.

The middle shot is of Camden High street opposite the stion. The shop in red is Ryman's the Stationers.

20B Camden High Street

View of Rokit 225 Camden High Street (shown as Rocket on the screen shot) on Camden High Sreet.

 20C Camden Market

20D Camden Lock Railway bridge

This shot is not in the film, just the Original Soundtrack..

20E Proud Music venue Camden Stables

They used the doorway to Pround Music venue in the Camden stables as the entrance to the Sushi restaurant. You can see the sign forPproud on the sign on the top right. Artistic license has been taken as there is in fact only a short passage between the door and the market stall opposite. There are also plenty of places to eat around there.

To get to Proud you are best going under the Camden Lock Railway bridge and along Chalk Farm Road to the archway entrance and then turn left along the wall. I have put a circle where Proud is.

Go through this gate (On Chalk farm road) and turn right follwing the wall to get to|Proud.

The next stop is Abbey Road.

Continue to walk up Chalk farm road to the Underground station (this is better than walking back to Camden Town)

Take a Bank branch train  to Kings Cross

  • At Kings Cross take a Westbound Metropolitan or Hammersmith train to Baker Street
  • At baker Street
  • Take a North bound Jubilee train to St John's Wood
There is a Beetles souvenir shop at St John's Wood station.

Take Grove End Rd opposite the station and walk to Abbey Road.
